Saturday, 4th May 1918. Mesopotamia: Hauptmann Schütz shot a hostile airplane and achieved his 8th victory in Iraq.

Sonnabend, 18.Mai 1918.Mesopotamien: ... In Gegend Altyn Köprue schoß Hauptmann Schütz, Führer der hier unter schwierigsten Verhältnissen kampferprobten deutschen Flieger, aus einem feindlichen Flugzeuggeschwader einen Bombendoppeldecker ab und errang hiermit den 10.Luftsieg, davon 9 im Irak.

Saturday, 18th May 1918. Mesopotamia: In the area of Altyn Koeprue, Hauptmann Schütz, the leader of the German aviators here, who are battle-tested and the most difficult conditions, shot down a hostile airplane, a bomb laden biplane and hereby achieved victory No.10. Of these 10, 9 were achieved in Iraq.

The Germans followed a system whereby a pilot became an ace or a Kanone after 10 victories. A remarkable achievement for a pilot in the Mesopatamian Theatre where the number of aircraft in the campaign only consisted of the aircraft from three squadrons.
Sonntag, 2.Juni 1918. Mesopotamien: Das gestern zum Absturz gebrachte feindliche Flugzeug wurde von Hauptmann Schuz und Unteroffizier Quoß abgeschossen.
