When I updated my Australian Visa last year I got a biometric one with all the issues that entails. It seems the Department of Homeland Security will not be left out and consequently green card holders will have biometric data collected from them when they enter the US. This will mean me.

Currently Green Card holders get all the benefits of being a US citizen short of being able to vote. As a green card holder I get to go through the same customs and immigration lines at airports as the US Citizens. With this change I will be segregated out. Political nationalism and bureaucratic paranioa has to stop. It is a horrible inefficiency and a pre-text to collect data on citizens as the program will inevitably engulf citizens when politically able.

It is a mechanism of an expanding state to target the politically weak first. This is why terrorists, child molesters, illegal immigrants, immigrants, non-citizens are always those who have their rights and liberties restricted first. Terrorists and child molesters are politically indefensible. The other categories are politically weak and in a charged nationalistic and political environment difficult to assert in the political and public mind for their liberties.

The madness needs to stop. The lesson of the enlightenment was that maximum liberty is a universal human value; no matter the visa state of an individual.

Update. It should be noted, to get the Green Card you are finger printed about five times, including each time you go to the now Department of Homeland Security to update anything, you also undergo health checks etc to make sure you don't have HIV, tuberculosis, etc. So it isn't like they don't have this data already.

Update II. This is the actual pdf. It is a nineteen page document.
